Evolutionary & Molecular Seed Resilience
'Unravelling the secrets of desiccation survival'
Our group aims to uncover the mechanisms that enable plants to survive extreme dehydration, with a particular focus on desiccation tolerance. Using an integrative approach that combines physiology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics, we investigate the evolution and regulation of desiccation tolerance in seeds and resurrection plants as our primary model systems. Our ultimate goal is to advance fundamental knowledge of drying mechanisms in plants, and contribute to informed translation of these insights to improve drought tolerance and resilience in crops.
